Everything I Read in February
The Bookmark No. 147
Like most you, I can’t believe February is coming to an end. Between the endless the snow, frozen days, and work deadlines, I feel like I blinked and the month flew by. It always feels that, especially after January drags on for what feels like 8 weeks on its own.
This month, I wanted to focus on little habits that make me feel better. I think I achieved that and I’m ready to go even further in that direction now that we are going to have more light soon. I cannot wait to wake up to the sun again and not in the dark with an alarm. I can’t wait to sit outside at my favorite coffee shop, the sun warming my shoulders while I write. I can’t wait for my Spring Break trip, the farmer’s market to return, and fresh flowers brightening my kitchen table again.
February was full of cozy nights, lots of snow days, evenings watching the Winter Olympics and good books. But I can’t wait for Spring to make it’s grand return.
Here’s what I read!
Little One by Olivia Muenter—Long time readers know I’m not a thriller reader, but give me a book that is suspenseful vs scary and I’m all in. I LOVED this book and I think it’s a great, fast paced read to get you out a slump.
Melting Point by Cici Williams—A cute, new adult Romance about Olympic athletes at the Winter Olympics. I liked it, didn’t love it.
Toe to Toe by Fallon Ballard—Out this month and perfect for any readers who love contemporary Romance, Magic Mike, and the classic 90’s dance film Center Stage.
Still Into You by Erin Connor—Rockstar Romance isn’t my typical thing, but I do love Erin Connor so I gave this a chance. It’s got vibes of Daisy Jones by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman.
Skate It Til You Make It by Rufaro Faith Mazarura—Another book I picked up due to it’s Winter Olympics setting! It’s a hockey player who becomes captain of Team GB’s Women’s team after the original suffers an injury and a sports photographer. It’s a slow burn, fake dating, enjoyable read! The audio is great.
Racing Hearts by Ann Adams—I don’t think I have ever read a Romance featuring rowers/crew and I was totally drawn to the cover of this book. It’s an emotional Romance about trusting yourself and letting people in along the way.
Royal Spin by Omid Scobie and Robin Benway—If you’re a royal watcher or fan of royal fiction, this is a quick and juicy read!
Sunk in Love by Heather McBreen—I think this is in the running for my favorite book of the month. I LOVED it. I’m a sucker for second chance romance and I loved how McBreen weaved in chapters from the past without making it feel overwhelming or dual timeline. It’s about a couple on the brink of divorce that have to be pretend to still be happily married while on a family vacation.
Revolve by Bal Khabra—A spicy, steamy, college hockey romance in the Dalton U series. A fun read and also delves into deeper topics like injury recovery, anger issues, and familial strain.
And Now, Back to You by BK Borison—One of my most anticipated books of the year and I had a blast savoring this book! Two meteorologists are snowed in together covering a once in a lifetime snowstorm in Maryland.
James by Percival Everett—I’ve had this book on my shelf for over a year and finally made time to read it. It’s a reimagining of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from Jim’s point of view. It’s entertaining, smart, and heartbreaking. Highly recommend!
What was your favorite book of February?
The Traitors Finale—Did you watch? I have SO many thoughts. But I’ll save them until everyone has had time to watch.
BK Borison’s First-Time Caller is being made into a movie!
Speaking of BK, my favorite bookish artist released her newest print featuring And Now, Back to You. Available as a print, t-shirt, crewneck, and phone case.
Have you heard of “Bedtime Stacking”? I think I used to be this kind of person and now really only read in bed at night. I try to keep most of my “activities” secluded to my office/library or the living room.
A Refresh of the The Monday Refresh is coming! I haven’t been happy with the quality of work I’ve been producing lately, especially in terms of this newsletter, and I’ve had a bit of brainblast on how I want to improve things. I’m excited to share it with you!
Have a great weekend and may we send February off gently and welcome a fresh start for March.
Until next time,
Phoebe

In January I read 3 books that I felt were 5 star reads and none in February. I spent too much of the month forcing myself to slog through a long, boring book for my in person book club, bleh. Looking forward to reading more things I feel strongly about in March!
The Traitos finale was SO good but also maddening lol
